I was born seven weeks premature, in severe condition and wasn’t expected to survive the first hours of life, let alone my first 24 years. I spent the first several weeks in an incubator, and once I survived the NICU it was onward from there. My first few years of life were fairly typical until I started getting severe headaches and migraines at 3 years of age.
Over the next 10 years, thousands of dollars were spent on CAT scans, tests and doctor visits, and I was finally placed on prescription medication. Although it caused severe mood swings, food cravings and weight gain, I stayed on this medication for the next six years. It helped with the migraines temporarily: however, the migraines were still present. If I missed even one dose, the withdrawal headaches were worse than the migraines.
I discontinued the medication and still had a migraines lasting a minimum of five days. I also had bronchitis at least twice a year, every year of my life and I was diagnosed with asthma at age 13 and required an inhaler. Around 18 years old I started to become hypoglycemic and it beacame so problematic that I passed out seven times in one year.
August 13, 2009 is a day that I will never forget. It’s the date of the first upper cervical corrective chiropractic adjustment that I ever received, but more importantly the last migraine I have had to date. I am thrilled to say that I have had one headache- not a full blown migraine- since. I have had bronchitis once that cleared up in less than four days, and I haven’t had a single hypoglycemic episode. That is why my family and I get adjusted on a regular basis, so we can stay healthy and not get sick. Prevention is SO important. I am so grateful for Chiropractic and everything it has done to change my life. Andrea T.
This is one of many stories that we get to hear from chiropractors all over the world. Chiropractic is not just about back pain, it’s a way of life!
