Kristi Eckert
Mental Health Therapist Dripping Springs Office
What inspired you to become a healthcare provider? As a young woman, I experienced the benefits of mental health therapy and made significant positive changes in my life. It inspired me to continue my education and become an LPC so I could help others benefit from therapy as well.
What is your philosophy when it comes to patient care? I believe supporting a patient’s individual needs is of utmost importance in patient care. I strive to be attuned and aware of a patient’s needs in treatment for meeting their counseling goals and objectives.
What do you wish more patients understood about their health? A patient has more control and agency with their health than they realize. Therapy is a way to address some common issues that affect a persons health including stress, depression and anxiety, which left unaddressed could impact a person’s health and well-being.
What conditions or health goals are you most passionate about helping patients with? I have found my strength and passion for counseling patients with mental health conditions including anxiety and depression, relationship issues and adjusting to major life changes. I want to help patients find their strength, resilience and courage to meet their goals. It is very encouraging as a mental health therapist to see patients overcome some of life’s greatest challenges.
How do you personalize care for each patient? I consider myself an eclectic therapist with training in a variety of therapy techniques and modalities. I use this knowledge and experience to guide my treatment to the individual and personalize their care according to their specific needs and goals. I want patients to feel supported and given tools to work toward their individual goals and the agency to improve their mental health functioning.
What does a first visit with you typically look like? My first meeting with a patient is conversational where I am getting to know the patient and providing an environment where a patient could feel comfortable talking to a new person. I want the patient to have the first impression of a safe environment that I will consistently provide as their therapist so they can have a place to focus on the goals they have in therapy.
What do you do outside of work to stay healthy and balanced? I enjoy life through my practice of Brazilian-jiu-jitsu, lifting weights and working out, spending time outdoors with my family, cooking healthy balanced meals for my family and friends, writing about life and exploring how people respond to life’s challenges.
