Dr. Clayton Craig, DC

Chiropractor Dripping Springs Office

What inspired you to become a healthcare provider? I am a product of the chiropractic lifestyle. My grandfather was a chiropractor and my mother, his daughter, a massage therapist. These two helped instill a respect and reverence for natural health care. My father, a hardworking man, helped instill a sense of pride in my work and dedication to my craft. These influences combined helped shape my desire to do something impactful, helpful, and fun with my life. When I stopped to consider what career might encompass all of these things, I landed on Chiropractic. And I never looked back! Choosing to become a Chiropractor has been the best decision I have made. Every day I am blessed to see Chiropractic working in the lives of my patients, and I am constantly in awe.

What is your philosophy when it comes to patient care? The power that made the body heals the body. Chiropractic care helps ensure that power is able to flow freely within the body to activate our innate healing mechanisms. When speaking with patients, I like to say, “There’s only one healer in this room… and that’s YOU.” And that’s my philosophy in a nutshell.

What do you wish more patients understood about their health? I truly wish more patients understood that they were not created to be in a state of dis-ease, but to thrive! Many people think that aches and pains and health concerns are all just a natural part of ageing. However, more people should be aware that these things might be common, but they are not normal. Luckily, as a Chiropractor, I am able to help patients see, and EXPERIENCE, this concept!

What conditions or health goals are you most passionate about helping patients with? Throughout my years in practice, I have learned two major things: women are seriously overlooked and underserved in the medical field and typically these women are the medical decision-makers for their households. Because of these reasons, I have chosen to dedicate my service to Women’s Health primarily. I love that I focus on Women’s Health because this specifically allows me to help women, and their families, with a wide range of health concerns. I am passionate about the journey of pregnancy and family planning, menstrual irregularities and concerns, chronic health concerns, jaw and TMJ issues, and stress-related health concerns. And, of course, I also love helping patients maintain general health and wellness!

How do you personalize care for each patient? It’s important to meet patients where they’re at. Sometimes that means utilizing a specific technique, more explanation of the why and where of an adjustment, or providing lifestyle advice for the patient to practice outside the office. I take time to listen to the concerns of my patients and tailor these recommendations appropriately.

What does a first visit with you typically look like? Patients will immediately find that listening is a key tool in my clinical toolbox. Obviously, there is a hands-on component to the first visit—how else would a Chiropractor do their work—but listening to and truly hearing a patient’s story almost always leads to the correct plan of action. Beyond the patient’s story, I use a combination of x-ray films and balance and postural testing to gain a comprehensive understanding of the care necessary to help each patient improve their health.

What do you do outside of work to stay healthy and balanced? Outside of work you will usually find me… outside! My partner and I moved to the Hill Country so we would have easy access to the beautiful nature that surrounds Dripping Springs! We love hiking, swimming, playing with our Poodle, and just relaxing in nature and soaking up Mother Earth’s good vibes. I’m also an avid reader and researcher. I love to learn about the newest technologies, therapies, breakthrough ideas, and all things human health and performance. Oh, and how could I forget, I’m also slightly obsessed with craft coffee. You should see my home coffee bar!
